OSHA Joins Alliance with New York Manufacturers' Group

OSHA yesterday announced it has joined an alliance with the Manufacturers Association of the Southern Tier, known as MAST, which is based in Jamestown, N.Y. Together, the allies will educate small businesses on ways to reduce typical manufacturing hazards.

"An effective safety and health management system is a key tool for safeguarding employees," said Patricia Clark, OSHA's regional administrator in Manhattan. "Establishing such a system enables workers and management to anticipate, identify, and eliminate occupational hazards before employees get hurt."

The alliance was signed April 3 by Clark, Todd Jay Tranum, MAST's executive director, and Arthur Dube, who is the director of OSHA's Buffalo, N.Y., office.
