Home Safety Council Hires Director of Development
The Home Safety Council said Lynette Sappe-Watkins is joining as the new director of Development. Formerly a senior development officer with the American Red Cross National Headquarters, Sappe-Watkins "brings significant fundraising expertise coupled with a strong commitment to health and safety to the Home Safety Council executive team," Washington, D.C.-based HSC said yesterday.
Sappe-Watkins will be a senior member of HSC management and responsible for leading all fund raising and developing strategic partnerships and sponsorship opportunities. She will be the chief liaison to the development committee of the Board of Directors.
"Lynnette's development experience and accomplishments, together with her commitment to public health and safety, make her a significant addition to the Home Safety Council team," said Meri-K Appy, president of the council. "Her proven fund-raising abilities and leadership qualities will help us advance the Home Safety Council's agenda to raise awareness for the importance of home safety." At the Red Cross, she was responsible for managing cultivation strategies and donor relations for high-level donors, successfully raising more than $20 million in gifts to the National Disaster Relief Fund, America's Readiness Campaign, American Red Cross 125th Anniversary, and International Response Fund. "I am excited to join the Home Safety Council's dedicated team of devoted and talented professionals," she said in the news relese. "Home injury prevention is such an important undertaking, and I look forward to serving the Home Safety Council by aligning the organization with like-minded partners in accomplishing the critical mission of creating safer homes."
