2007 AAOHN Conference for Leadership Advancement Set for September
Effective communication skills will be the focus of the 2007 AAOHN Conference for Leadership Advancement taking place at The Hyatt Regency Atlanta, September 26-28.
Designed to prepare occupational and environmental health nurses for leadership challenges they are likely to face in various business, clinical, and health care settings, the program will approach the topic of verbal and nonverbal communication from various angles, all with the goal of increasing the skills necessary for success in any environment. Conference sessions will highlight how to present yourself in a businesslike manner, create positive audiences, effectively use criticism, and develop resume and interviewing skills.
Patti Wood, MA, CSP, will kick off the event with her opening keynote address, "Nonverbal Image and Impression: Being the Best You." Other presentations include "Developing Resumes and Interviewing Strategies for Success," delivered by content expert Nicola Graves, PhD, assistant professor in the practice of management communication, Emory University Goizueta Business School, and "Effectively Communicating to Senior Leaders and Organizations," presented by Brandon Mikel Smith, MS, MBA. Jeff Justice, CSP, will deliver the closing keynote address, "Humor for Stress Management and Presentations in the Workplace."
Online registration begins June 1 at www.aaohn.org. Registration rates increase after Sept. 1.
