Board, Public to Hear BP Investigators' Report March 20
Texas City, Texas, is the location of a public meeting announced by the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board for its investigators to report the latest finding on the March 2005 explosion and fire at BP's Texas City refinery and for the board to accept public comments.
CSB said the meeting will begin at 6 p.m. March 20 at The Nessler Center's Wings of Heritage Room, 2010 5th Avenue North. The incident killed 15 workers and injured about 170 others, prompting a record OSHA fine and accelerating the departure of BP's chief executive.
After the public comment period ends, the board will consider whether the preliminary facts presented necessitate recommendations prior to the final completion of the board's investigative report. CSB said the staff presentation will focus on four key safety issues: safety culture, regulatory oversight, process safety metrics, and human factors.
