VENT 2006: 8th International Conference on Ventilation

The conference is coming in May to Chicago.

Are you going to a technical conference this year? I highly recommend you consider the VENT 2006 conference. Think about it--every human occupancy requires adequate ventilation, and OH&S professionals are always involved and responsible, regardless of any other health and safety concern.

VENT 2006, to be held this coming May 13-17 in Chicago, will provide hundreds of opportunities to learn more about ventilation. The conference will be held concurrently with the annual AIHCE, and participants of VENT 2006 and AIHCE 2006 will have access to both conferences with their registrations. A two-for-one deal!

Technical Program. VENT 2006 will sponsor:
-- six professional development courses (e.g., fundamentals of industrial ventilation, maintenance and troubleshooting, portable ventilation systems, advanced design, welding and confined spaces)
-- six roundtables (e.g., current standards and guidelines, applications of CFD, design, ensuring performance)
-- access to 10 technical tours (e.g., visits to the Air Movement and Control Association lab, Argonne National Lab, the Field Museum, the Tribune, and Lyric Opera)
-- equipment exhibits (e.g., ventilation testing equipment manufacturers and suppliers)
-- plus more than 100 technical podium and poster presentations from the world's leading experts in ventilation. More than 19 countries will be represented at VENT 2006!

The technical program provides ventilation research reports (e.g, computation fluid mechanics) plus a wide variety of cost-effective practical applications to industrial facilities and indoor environments.

Just a few of the more interesting application papers include those related to air curtains (e.g., used lab fume hoods), ventilation of kitchens, welding ventilation, push-pull hoods used in dissection labs, automobile and truck air conditioning and cleaning, spray painting ventilation, ventilation of concrete cutting, easy air balancing techniques, car body repair ventilation, ventilation of packaging machines, woodworking machine ventilation, mine ventilation, ventilation issues related to semiconductor manufacturing, ventilation of swimming pools, and much, much more.

Socials. A welcoming reception will be held at McCormick Place on Sunday evening, and a dinner is planned for Tuesday evening. Many other social events are available for registrants and their partners.

Sponsors. VENT 2006 sponsors include AIHA and ACGIH (co-sponsors of AIHCE), the ACGIH Ventilation Committee, the AIHA Engineering Committee, NIOSH, ASHRAE, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the RMCOEH at the University of Utah, the University of Chicago, and West Virginia University.
