The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) reports that occupational hearing loss is the most common work-related illness in the United States. An estimated $242 million is spent annually on worker's compensation for hearing loss disability. Properly implemented hearing conservation and hearing loss prevention programs are effective means for monitoring and managing hearing loss in the workplace.

During this webinar, we will discuss strategies for focusing resources to deliver effective reductions in work-related hearing loss through responsible management of hearing conservation programs, including:

  • The key elements of an effective hearing conservation program;
  • The impact of implementing the NIOSH criteria versus the OSHA criteria in identifying employees to include in your hearing conservation program;
  • Successful approaches for effectively conducting and integrating sound level measurements (SLM) and noise dosimetry;
  • Lessons learned through effective program management;
  • Implementing a “Buy Quiet” program to identify equipment, engineering controls and hearing protection devices for high noise environments.
