2016 OSHA Oil & Gas Safety Conference Returning to Houston

These conferences take place every other year; more than 2,200 people participated in the fourth one, which took place Dec. 2-3, 2014.

The fifth OSHA Oil & Gas Safety Conference is set for Nov. 29-30, 2016, and will take place in Houston, Texas, the University of Texas at Arlington's Division for Enterprise Development has announced. These conferences take place every other year; the fourth one also was in Houston, at the Hilton Americas hotel, on Dec. 2-3, 2014. More than 2,200 people participated in it, according to the division's news release.

It had an all-star list of speakers, including Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO of the National Safety Council; OSHA Assistant Administrator Dr. David Michaels; NIOSH Director Dr. John Howard; David Bates, area director of OSHA's Oklahoma City office; Warren Hubler, vice president of HSE for Helmrich & Payne International Drilling Co.; and Billy Jack McDaniel, a former oilfield worker who survived an explosion in which he was severely burned.

The event included presentation of Linda Berryman scholarship awards to 11 recipients and the presentation of the Regional Administrator's Award by John Hermanson, DOL regional administrator for the Dallas Region, to Kenny Jordan, executive director of the Association of Energy Service Companies.
