Four Trucking Companies Shut Down by FMCSA

The companies were discovered to be reincarnations of a previously shut down trucking company.

Four trucking companies in Kansas have been ordered to cease operations after findings that they are the reincarnations of a company that was formerly shut down and is now operating under different names.

Royal Transport, Inc., Nationwide, Inc., Freight, Inc., and Midwest A, Inc. have all been ordered by the Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to immediately cease all interstate transportation.

"Safety is our top priority," said Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, in statement on the DOT website. "Trucking companies that attempt to dodge safety regulations or hide a history of violations by hiding behind a new name have no place on our nation’s roadways."

At the beginning of the year, FMCSA found that by operating under common control, these four companies were attempting to hide a detrimental compliance history. Nationwide Inc. was ordered to suspend service after failing to pay civil penalties. The companies were using the same trucks, drivers, and operational methods as Royal, Inc.

"Today’s action is another step toward raising the bar for commercial vehicle and roadway safety,” said FMCSA Administrator Anne S. Ferro. “It sends a strong and important message that companies that attempt to evade safety regulations by reincarnating will be found and removed from the road.”
