Greening One World Trade Center
Two thousand frosted glass panels will be installed to maximize sunlight and minimize heat gain, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's iconic One World Trade Center, already the tallest skyscraper in the Big Apple, now has a "greener" facade, as workers began installing "green technology" glass panels at the street level on Feb. 15. The agency's release said the building's base will feature 2,000 specially made frosted glass panels featuring "a high-performance, low-admittance coating to maximize sunlight and minimize heat gain."
The Port Authority hosted a photo opportunity for the press Feb. 15, saying boots were required wear because it is an active construction site. The Port Authority provided hard hats, vests, and protective eyewear.
