Chao Part of White House Delegation to Beijing Closing Ceremonies

President George W. Bush on Wednesday announced the members of a Presidential Delegation to the Closing Ceremony of next month's Olympic Games in Beijing, China. The closing ceremony will take place Aug. 24.

The small delegation will be headed by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Labor Secretary Elaine Chao is a member, as are Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt and Clark T. Randt, Jr, U.S. ambassador to the People's Republic of China. Chao has been a member of Bush's administration throughout both terms, having headed the Labor Department since her Senate confirmation in January 2001.

The other three members are longtime Bush adviser Karen Hughes, who now is global vice chair of Burson-Marsteller; Mr. Peter Ueberroth, president of the United States Olympic Committee; and U.S. figure skater Michelle Kwan.
