30-Day Extension for Comments on Construction

OSHA today announced it is extending the public comment period for its new construction confined spaces rule by 30 days, until Feb. 28. The National Association of Home Builders, the National Utility Contractors Association, and the Associated Builders and Contractors Association asked for 60 days, but the agency said it believes 30 days is sufficient.

OSHA issued the rule on Nov. 28, 2007. It bears Docket No. OSHA-2007-0026, for those filing comments electronically via www.regulations.gov. The other acceptable methods are faxing (not to exceed 10 pages) to the OSHA Docket Office at 202-693-1648 and mailing to OSHA Docket Office, Docket No. OSHA-2007-0026, U.S. Department of Labor, Room N-2625, 200 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20210.
