New Castle Accredited as Third 'Safe Community' in Pennsylvania by the National Safety Council

The Safe Community program identifies and reduces leading causes of injury and death in the community

New Castle has become the third community in Pennsylvania to achieve accreditation as a 'Safe Community' by the National Safety Council (NSC) and the 26th Safe Community in the United States, according to a news release.

The Safe Communities America program aims to reduce injury by creating a coalition of partners in communities including businesses, local government, civic organizations and residents.

“It’s wonderful to see New Castle stepping up to address its safety concerns head-on,” said Deborah Hersman, president and CEO of the National Safety Council. “The city has shown its dedication to keeping safety on the forefront and is on a path to continuous improvement as a Safe Community.”
