Cadbury Chocolate Recalled for Pork DNA
The chocolate manufacturer has recalled products sold in stores throughout Malaysia for traces of pork DNA.
Cadbury Malaysia, part of Mondelez International, Inc., has recalled various chocolate products due to testing that found traces of pork DNA, Food Safety News reports. Malaysia's Ministry of Health did a periodic inspection for non-halal ingredients and found traces of pork DNA in Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut and Cadbury Milk Roast Almond.
According to Food Safety News, two of three samples taken by the Ministry of Health tested positive for pork DNA. Due to the recall, Cadbury Malaysia announced it will be conducting a full review of its supply chain in order to meet halal standards. Most Malaysian food manufacturers adhere to halal standards because more than 50 percent of the country is Muslim.
