AIHA Registry Programs to Offer SDS, Label Author Credential

Signing a memorandum of understanding Oct. 5 with the Society for Chemical Hazard Communication and the American Industrial Hygiene Association means they’ll partner for its delivery.

Another registry program has been added to the AIHA Registry Programs –- the Safety Data Sheet and Label Authoring Registry Program. It became a reality when a memorandum of understanding was signed Oct. 5 by AIHA Registry Programs, the Society for Chemical Hazard Communication, and the American Industrial Hygiene Association to partner for its delivery. The MOU was signed at the end of the SCHC annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

To gain the SDS and Label Author credential, an individual must meet the established qualifications and must demonstrate competency in the skills and knowledge defined by the program's Body of Knowledge. This is the first EHS Specialty Credential that provides recognition for individuals who have expertise in this area; the organizations involved say it will improve the overall quality of SDSs and labels by motivating individuals to develop the knowledge and skills needed to gain the credential.
